"With my work with LifeWind International,
I travel to many parts of the world, starting with
Mexico. Life is also a journey--of changes,
of growth, and of transitions. Thank you for
joining me in my journeys."
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be
dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)
Thank God that:
1. Raquel and
Jacob Sotelo had their baby! Natán
(Nathan) and Raquel are doing well. Pray for Raque's recovery of strength after
many months of bed rest. Praise God for his sustaining them throughout the
pregnancy.
2. After many weeks of frequent travels, I returned to Zihuatanejo
today. Thank God for safe travels, with no airplane problems.
3. I enjoyed the Training of Trainers seminar in McAllen. Thank God for those committed
churches. One church is heading to Togo this month, where they will
make use of the CHE training they received. Pray that they may work well
alongside the Togo
churches and missions. The other church is sending a team to Kenya. Pray
also as they work in the Tex-Mex border.
4. Shortly after that, I headed to San
Diego. Dr. Arnold Gorske has developed a
strong health education program based on World Health Organization standards
(see http://hepfdc.info/ for more information) so we are working together
to bring this teaching to the communities. We took the Amtrak train along a
beautiful stretch of the Pacific coast to Los Angeles,
and on to Pasadenaby Metro. Thanks to Arnie for his gracious hospitality.
5. In Pasadena, we took part in Best Practices
meetings and attended the West Coast Healthcare Missions Conference, which was
excellent. (Best Practices means following world health standards and
practicing evidence-based medicine. So we are trying to bring our community
health training materials up to those standards.)
6. From Pasadena,
I flew to Phoenix, where the Global CHE Network office is based. Terry and I worked
together to produce a new DVD with all the community health evangelism training
materials. We lost count, but there are around 3000 lessons, so we are
continually updating old lessons and writing new ones. Stan also made major improvements to his Neighborhood
Transformation (urban CHE) materials. Pray that these teaching materials may
help equip and encourage community health evangelism teams in many countries
and in many U.S.
cities. Thanks to Terry and Jeannie
for getting up at 2 am today to drive me to the airport.
7. I am enjoying my new apartment. The boxes are unpacked and I
am mostly settled in. Today when I arrived back, the kitchen cabinets are all
being repaired. Please come visit!
Please be
praying:
1. Pray for Benjamín
and Teresa Torres. Tere's father lived in a small house behind their home
in Reynosa.
Recently, his house burned down, also damaging Benjamín and Teresa's house.
Thank God that nobody was hurt. Pray for God's provision and his direction for
their family.
2. Many elderly
people in Zihuatanejo have no family to take care of them, so we are hoping to
build a refuge for them. Alisa Duncan has been riding a bicycle
from Zihuatanejo to Oklahoma City
in support of this ministry. Read more about it on her blog at http://www.ztookc.blogspot.com/. If you would like to hear
more or buy miles to support the Zihuatanejo Abandoned Seniors ministry, go to http://www.bethechangeok.org/,
3. Our rainy
season has finally begun. This year, with the delayed rains, there is a
real risk of drought in areas such as Mexico
City. So thank God for the downpours and let it rain!
Many thanks for your part in this! And thank God
for how he is working.
